The Poppy Fields
We were visiting our son and daughter-in-law and their two children for childminding duties in June. For a couple of hours on Father’s Day my son and I were able to escape to nearby Ranscombe Farm to photograph the poppy fields and there was an exceptional display this year.
Ranscombe Farm is located near Cuxton in North Kent and is a Plant-life Nature Reserve and also working farm. Part of the Ranscombe site is included in the Cobham Woods Site of Special Scientific Interest, and the entire farm is within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Ranscombe has been a source for flower collectors for centuries. The chalk grassland hosts a rich suite of plants including Wild Liquorice and Horseshoe Vetch.

Dear grazing among the poppies

And they're off!

The Lilac variety

Many more still to bloom
