Corniche
This month I have been travelling much more than usual with visits back to the UK and Toronto, plus 4 nights in Abu Dhabi which is the subject of this month's blog. My wife and I lived in Dubai from 1985-1989 where our second child was born. My work took me to Abu Dhabi 2 or 3 times a year on average during this period. I remember the drive well between the two cities which at that time was nearly all desert and quite dangerous as then the road was not fenced and there was always the danger of hitting a wandering camel, which I confess I nearly did once!

Coffee Pot Island
Abu Dhabi like Dubai has changed beyond all recognition in the last 30 years, although there were a couple of landmarks that I still recognise such as the Coffee Pot and the Corniche. The sounds and smells haven't changed at all over the years and these above all took me back to a time when I was in my late 20’s!
I managed to get out with my camera on my second night as the golden hour approached and managed to grab the sunset shot from the Corniche seen here. I thought the local taking the same picture on her iPhone made for an interesting composition as did some of the modern architecture that is still being erected in the city with its constantly changing skyline.
