Frenchmans Cay
This months blog sees me back in Tortola for a couple of days. After another early start out of Dulles and a connection via San Juan I arrived on Tortola in the late afternoon. I enjoy the flights from San Juan as theses are on a nine seater Cessna 402 operated by Cape Air. For this flight there were only three of us onboard including the pilot.

The flight was a bit bumpy as it doesn't get above 4,500 feet and the weather wasn't great for the 40 minute flight over, or for the following two days on the island for that matter. The hire car was waiting for me at the airport, keys under the drivers mat! I was staying at Nanny Cay about a thirty minute drive from the airport on Beef Island on the other side of the Capital, Road Town.
On the first evening I made my way over to Frenchmans Cay where the title shot above was taken. The sunset was better last year so take a look at my February 2016 blog entry for a comparison.
The following evening I drove over to the other side of the island to the popular vantage point at “Stoutts Look Out” which commands views over Cane Garden Bay where this next shot was made.

The next shot was made on the iPhone. Having watched one of the many photography podcasts I subscribe to I had downloaded "Slow Shutter" a great app for introducing motion blur to your photographs.

With the lack of any dramatic sunsets and the generally overcast weather I decided to make some black and whites which have been edited in Silver Effects Pro2 or Tonality Pro for the next 3 shots.

The photograph below (another iPhone shot) was made on my last morning before heading black to the airport for the hop back over to San Juan and on to my connecting flight on United for the return to Washington.

High and Dry
This is very likely to be my last trip to the BVI which I will leave with fond memories.
