Chilston Park Hotel

Well it’s September already and at the beginning of the month our son got married! The wedding was held at the Chilston Park Hotel in Kent and although the weather was not great the overcast skies were a photographers dream as there were no harsh shadows to contend with. That said I only had my iPhone on the day and my Nikon P7000 for the shots you see here. I didn’t want to be weighed down with all my gear as there were more important things to do! I also didn’t want impinge on the official photographer. I was tempted to take my drone but in the end decided I wasn’t experienced enough yet to risk it.

The Chiliston Park Hotel dates back to at least 1100. Childeston was owned by Fitzhamon who was Lord of Leeds Castle which is located nearby. The grounds are pleasant with its own natural lake. The headline black and white shot above was taken on the following morning as was the stitched panorama below, both edited in Lightroom.

The final shot is of our "Queen Anne" room. If I’d been thinking this should have been another stitched panorama as there is a lot more detail to see. The bed was about a metre off the floor which required a step stool to get on it. My wife and I are not tall!
