Looking East towards Horseguards
I returned to work at our London office in mid September after five weeks leave! This is the first time that I have commuted to London on a regular basis since I joined the office in the mid 80’s and the days of the slam door trains! The office moved from our then Croydon headquarters which has since closed whilst I have been working overseas. The daily commute sees me catching the Gatwick Express service from Haywards Heath to London Victoria which so far is clean, efficient and even has free Wi-Fi. I get into Victoria around 0830 and then I have a 15-20 minute walk to the office. I could make my way down Victoria Street but I prefer to go along Buckingham Palace Road and then opposite the Wellington Barracks crossover to head through St. James’ Park which is the location for this month’s blog.
The 57-acre park in the City of Westminster in central London is bounded by Buckingham Palace to the West, the Mall to the North, Horse Guards to the East, and Wellington Barracks/Birdcage Walk to the South. The park is an oasis in the city and teaming with wildlife which is too numerous to feature all of its diversity here.
The title shot above is looking East towards Whitehall and Horseguards Parade.
