I returned to Tehran in July for a few day with my job after a break of 31 years! My work takes me all around the world but it is not often I get to return to a place after such a long period of time. Once again time for photography is always limited and there were constraints on where I would have felt comfortable on the streets but I managed to grab a few of which I have posted here. I was travelling light so all these were made on my old Nikon P7000.
It was hot, 40C+ every day I was there but at least it is a dry heat. There have been a few improvements since I was last here such as a metro system. Construction had started in the 1970’s but the Iran/Iraq war intervened and it wasn’t operational until the 1990’s.
The Iranian people are outward going and very friendly, they were eager to help the obvious westerner in their midst whilst at the same time life for the average citizen is challenging as the return of US led sanctions start to bite, so the economy is obviously under some pressure.
