Lanterns in Cairo Market
February found me back in both India and Egypt. First stop New Delhi for a couple of days and then on to Cairo via Abu Dhabi for 2 nights before heading back to London via Dubai. The weather was not great in either capital, but still warmer than the UK and the near sub zero temperatures that I had left behind.
No shots from Delhi this time which featured in my April 2018 Blog and there wouldn’t have been any from Cairo except for a local bar, an impromptu visit to a local market and for a trip to the planned New Capital which is under contraction to the East of Cairo roughly midway between Cairo and Suez.
Having arrived at the Kempinski Nile Hotel in the early hours of Wednesday morning I managed to grab a few hours sleep before heading into the office. Meetings took up all of the first day but later my colleague and I headed off to a traditional local bar which had been recommend to us on one of our previous visits. The “Stella Bar” as it is known is about 15 minutes walk from our hotel on the other side of Tahrir Square. But to arrive there in one piece is akin to acting like a pinball with the Cairo traffic.
On our final day we headed out to the New Capital Project to see the work currently underway and to gauge what progress had been made since we were last out there in April 2018.
Here are a few shots which I hope you will find interesting. All these were shot on my old Nikon P6000 which I was using to travel as light as possible and edited in Lightroom.
