Cardinal (male)
September seemed to come and go and time with the camera proved to be a challenge. I am not happy to share anything that I captured here in this month’s blog so with this in mind I decided to to explore some of the photographs that popped up on my phone from our time in Washington DC where we lived from 2013-2017.
I worked in the Capital but we lived 11 miles East of DC in Falls Church, Virginia. We lived in a property with a large deck which ran along the kitchen through to the dining room where we had installed our bird feeder. I seemed to have spent much of our 4 years in the US doing battle with the native grey squirrels in an effort to keep them off the feeder with varying degrees of success. We had some interesting birds on our feeder including Cardinals, Black Capped Chickadees, the Nuthatch, and Jays to name but a few. Unfortunately most of these were not as sharp as would have liked hence the slim pickings here.
For these shots I set up my Nikon D800 and 70-200 f2.8 on a tripod and trigger the shutter via Air Remote from Tether Tools.
