Cuckfield (dusting off the drone) - June 2021

Just t a brief post this month. I haven’t had my drone, a Mavic Pro, out for over a year due to the Pandemic so I decided to charge it up and grab a few shots from the Cuckfield Playing Fields to the West of the village. Cuckfield is a village in the Mid Sussex District of West Sussex on the southern slopes of the Weald. It’s located 34 miles south of London, 13 miles north of Brighton and 31 miles east northeast of the county town of Chichester. The origin of the name Cuckfield is debated but it is generally associated with the cuckoo which is the village emblem.

The drone laws have been tightened recently in an effort to bring some order to the potential misuse and although I am a member of the BMFA, have insurance and a CAA operator ID, I still feel slightly uneasy that I may come across someone who is not familiar with the law and the discussion that might follow! I only use my drone for aerial photography so the actual flying side is less important to me although I have flown gliders many, many years ago.
