Burford's busy High Street
On our way back from Bourton-on-the-Water (last months blog post) we stopped off for an hour in Burford. Located on the River Windrush in the Cotswold Hills, Burford is steeped in history.
The town dates back to the middle Saxon period with the founding of a village near the site of the modern priory building. This settlement continued in use until just after the Norman conquest when the new town of Burford was built. The town centre also has some 15th-century houses and the baroque style townhouse which is now home to the Burford Methodist Church.
All the photographs here were made on my Sony A600 with the 16-70 f4.
