River Windrush
In October we spent a couple of days in Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire to celebrate my wife’s birthday. We have both been here before may years ago as children but had virtually no recollection apart from the model village!
The High Street is flanked by large grass verges with the River Windrush running West to East through the village. There are a number of low stone arched bridges over the river which were built between 1654 and 1953 hence the “Venice of the Cotswolds” label some have attributed to it. The village is also the home of the Cotswolds Motoring Museum and Toy Collection and the famous model village which has featured in a number of television productions.
We stayed at The Old Manse Hotel fronting the river in the heart of the village. On our way back we stopped briefly in Burford which I’ll feature in next months blog.
The shots here were made on my Sony A600 with the 16-70 f4.
